TIC – The Industrial Company provides direct-hire construction services to traditional industrial markets across the United States. The same mission the original company had when it began more than 35 years ago. Those markets include power, mining/minerals, oil, gas and chemical, renewable energy, general services and maintenance, substation installations/high voltage testing for the chemical, power and refinery industries and marine/heavy civil and fabrication. TIC provides specialized services through its T. E. Ibberson Company district, whose experience expands over 130 years, specializing in design/build slip form installations and grain handling systems throughout the world.
Facility retrofits often present unique challenges, especially when existing structures and original drawings do not match. Kiewit used laser scanning technology to develop a 3-D model of the existing Southwest Power Station, allowing the project team to identify problems before they could affect the project schedule or budget.
In a joint venture,TIC with Kiewit Power Engineers, was the EPC contractor for a 620 MW 2x1 combined cycle gas fired power plant.
TIC was the general contractor for the construction of the Flare Relocation phase to facilitate a future expansion to the Hess Tioga Gas Plant. A new flare system was installed and commissioned to allow for the decommissioning and removal of the existing flare system.
TIC was awarded the contract for the installation of a new 60” silo feed conveyor, a 72” transfer conveyor and train batch loadout system.
This fabrication facility supports district projects focusing on pipe spool fabrication.
TIC was awarded the contract for the erection of a 1300-W Bucyrus-Erie dragline including the setting of two 1,300 hp hoist motors, two 1,300 hp drag motors, three 640 hp swing motors, two 640 hp propel motors, one 102” diameter hoist drum, one 102” diameter drag drum, 285’ boom with a 85 1/4” sheave and all other electrical and mechanical items. Maximum hoisting load was 195,000 lbs and the working weight was 4,705,000 lbs. Man-hours totaled 84,000.
Locations in Denver, Platteville and Pueblo, Colo., TIC provides small capital service and maintenance to several gas and coal-fired power plants. Plants include Ft. St. Vrain, Cherokee Power Station, Comanche Power Station and Pawnee.
TIC was the general contractor for the installation of the wet end paper machine Bristol formers at the Georgia Pacific Gypsum Division plant.
In this $480 million project, TIC and MHI are completing engineering, procurement, site work, civil work, piping, electrical and instrumentation, turnover, and completion scopes. Major installed equipment includes a 380 ft. tall CO2 absorber tower, a CO2 compressor, a 120 ft. tall flue gas quencher, regenerator, and the CO2 stripper tower.
