BAGDAD FLOTATION AND THICKENER PROJECT
Bagdad, Arizona
The Bagdad Mine Complex is an open-pit copper mine consisting of two concentrators capable of milling 115,000 metric tons per day, which produce copper and molybdenum concentrates. TIC – The Industrial Company (TIC) installed a new flotation circuit and thickener, tie-ins to the existing mill to route slurry feed and 13 miles of new roads. Work also included construction of a motor control center building and two transformer substations.
The successful replacement of the rougher circuit with new flotation technology advanced Bagdad operations toward achieving safe production goals and lowering both technical and financial risk through reduced maintenance and power consumption, while increasing metal recovery.
